Their many friends and rela tives gave them a rousing time, as usual. The electricity was shut off for over five hours last Saturday morn ing on New Suffolk Lane due to a car-pole accident. The firehouse was without juice also but they have alternate methods of alerting the firemen in case of an alarm. Maybe the beautifi cation com m ittee could ask the railroad for a donation of time and labor to cut the grass. The station is very busy on weekends with summer visitors. Chief M a thew M a rtin led a delegation of five Cutchogue fire men to a seminar at the Hauppauge High School on the transportation of hazardous m a terial and the handling of the material in case of an accident. Chief Martin stated that the course pointed out, among many interesting points, that one does not realize the hazardous material transported through Cut chogue, for example, radioactive shipments to hospitals and propane gas and other inflam m a b les to nearby destinations. The seminar was sponsored by the Suffolk Countv Vocational Board. The Cutchogue-New Suffolk His torical Council held their regular riiceting oh Minday,' June 2, at the Presbyterian Church. There will be 70 dealers at the Antique Flea M a rket on July 5; the Square Dance preparations are completed; the auction donations are coming in and the Wickham Farm House on the Village Green is open to the public. The Farm House is the newest addition to the Green and has been restored. There are still some interior furnishings to be acquired but all the visitors, so far, are very appreciative of the work that has been done to this house. There is no charge to view the building, but there is a place where you may make a donation if you so desire. It will help to furnish the rooms and maintain the building. * In other reports at the meeting it was noted that there was no action at the Town level on the bicenten nial celebration committee. Tommy Muncy of Nassau Point had his tonsils removed on Friday at Central Suffolk Hospital. He is at home recovering. Doctors Close (Continued from Page I ) planning on admitting only emer gency patients, and will maintain call service only for em e r g e n c y cases. The doctors will continue to see Vatients in their offices, until June 15, Eckroyd said. The Southampton area physicians are also halting their practice June 15, but will also treat emergency cases at South ampton Hospital. As to Central Suffolk Hospital, Eckroyd adm itted there will be inconveniences, but he added “ no body is going to die.” Patients not considered emergency cases can be treated at the hospital’s General Adult Clinic, in operation for over a year. The clinic is open four days a week, Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, Jhursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. until noon. There will be one physician on duty at each of the time periods, and patients are to be accommodated, by appointment. But the doctors have pledged to treat emergency patients, and to continue their call service, for emergency cases. The doctors of Southold Town, however, are generally accepting the provisions of the new medical m a lpractice legislation. But Dr. Robert J. Ogilvie last week warned that continuation of practice after June 15 will depend on the avail ability of malpractice insurance at a reasonable cost. The problem s of the doctors began earlier this year when the major malpractice insurance carrier, the Argonaut Insurance Co., an nounced it was cancelling its insur ance or in the alternative wanted a huge increase in premiums. The state legislature, and Gov. Carey dragged their feet on the problem, and the new state legisla tion will mean malpractice insur ance premiums will increase as much as 100 per cent, and those premiums have been rising rapidly over the past 10 years.
