Although the plot owners were scattered far and wide, the oflicers started a campaign to instill re newed interest in the last resting place of their depai^ted loved ones, with the result that hearty co operation was given and the cem etery underwent a decided change In appearance. During the j)ast year many stones have l)een reset and improvements made throughout the grounds. On June 22, 1S37, two young peo ple, John T, Young and Isaac W il bur, died of smallpox and their re mains were l>uried on the farm of the present John T. Young, who now owns the farm. The stones m a r k i n g their graves were renu)ved this spring and reset in the l^/urel Cemetery. During the ('hristm a s holiday last winter the meml>ers of the association made many wreaths of evergreens and laurel and ijlaced them on stones in niem»>ry of those who had passed on long ago.
