CLASSICAL CouRsE._:The Classical Course is the usual bacca- ilaureate course of American colleges. Students may be permitted to . -pursue additional studies in either of the other courses. 2. SciENTIFIC CouRsE.-ln the Scientific Course the modern lan- guages are substituted for the ancient, and the amount of mathematical ;and English studies is increased. 3 . ScHOOL oF CIVIL ENGINEERING.- The student in this depart- ment enjoys advantages nowhere surpassed, in the course of instruc- tion, in its collection of models, instruments and books, the accumula- ·,tions of many years by the late Professor Gillespie, and also in unusual facilities for acquiring a practical knowledge for instrumental field work. 4· EcLECTIC CouRsE.-An Eclectic Course, consisting of studies -selected at pleasure from the preceding courses, may be taken by any .one who, upon examination, IS found qualified to pursue it. On the completion of this a certificate of attainment will be given. There are also special courses in Analytical Chemistry, Metallurgy :and Natural History.
