Wandling, of the Jamaica Precinct, has been made a detective and assigned to the Eight eenth Detective Division, with head quarters in the Richmond Hill Police Station. The division covers the Richmond Hill, Glendale, Jamaica and Rocks way Precincts, and Wand ling haa not yet been assigned to any particular precinct, but he expects to be sent to the Rockaways, which have been short a detective since the death of Detective William Ennis. Wandling did not seek the assign ment as a detective, but it waa made in line with the Police Department's policy of thus rewarding good Work by uniformed men.—Times. (We do not begrudge Patrolman Wandling his good luck, but as we re call, Patrolman Wandling was insid6 telephoning when this auto passed and if it had not been for a traveling salesman whose name we do not now recall, but who was standing in front at the time, and who called the officer and took his car to chase the burg lars with, Patrolman Wandling would not have done anything whatever to ward capturing the burglars, and in fact they would have undoubtedly made their escape.—Ed.) E. W. Brown Heads Big Coal Company An election of stockholders of the Long Island Fuel Corporation was held last week, and Earl W. Brown was elected president in place of W. P. W. Mr. Brown has been in charge of the business, which includes yards at Freeport, Lynbrook, Rockville Cen tre and Springfield, for the past three years, and has considerably increased the business. Mr. Bray has been con nected with the company as outside representative for some years. Har mon Haff devotee himself to the wholesale coal business in New Yorlu —Era. Great Men Never Die.
