Raynor followed with the same play, scoring Bedell. Shad Lewis followed with a nifty wal lop to center, scoring Kerley and Elli son ; result being four runs. In the fqurth Soper doubled and scored on Pettit’s single, Joe stole second and scored on Ellison’s ; single. The fifth inning endeu Freeport’s scoring Lewis started the inning by singling, Cheshire and Meaney each followed suit, filling the bases. They sgain polled the squeeze ploy. Soper bunting safe, scoring Lewis and Chesh ire scored on a passed b a l l ; two more. Snyder at short robbed Abe of a pretty hit in the first inning by mak- lyn; calls are courteously answered by those in charge, but taking the names over the fone is not satisfactory. Seaman, were the lowest bidders on the new house for Hose 3 at the meeting of the Village Board Thursday afternoon, and President Randall was sutboiized to sign the contract fer same. The kids were as follows : Seaman Bros., $3792; George Raynor, $3987; George Rey nolds, $4600; William G. Miller Co., $4850; G. Howard Randall, $4990. The reserve steamer, to be. used in Freeport while the apparatus of En gine 1 is at the American La France shops at Elmira having the tractor a t tached, has arrived in Freeport. It is expected that this apparatus will be delivered about the middle of Septem ber. The wagon for Hose 1 is reported nearly ready for delivery, although no notice has been received from the Mack Company. C. T., had its annual outing Saturday, the destination being Point Lookout, and when there Elliron’s Hotel. The com mittee, E. A. Spiegel, John J. Boland and Walter M. Nichols, guaranteed the success of the afternoon. Freeport Lodge Elks.—At the meet ing Thursday night it was decided to have a boxing contest at the Freeport Sporting Club, for benefit of the char ity fund. O b ituary HARRIET JOHANNS Harriet, 6-months old daughter of Helen and Andrew Johanns, died Saturday. Funeral services were held on Monday, Rev. Mr. Stiekenbicker of Rockville Centre officiating ; interment in Greenfield Cemetery; C. A. Fulton, funeral director. MARGARET C. HARVEY Margaret C., 3 months old daughter of Clifford and Lena Harvey, died at her late home on Tuesday. WALTER SMITH Walter Smith, 33 years old, died Saturday at his home at Valley Stream He is survived by his wid ow, Jessie (formerly Miss Jessie Toombs of Freeport) and two children, Fletcher, 9, and Ira, 6. Mr. Smith was a native of Nebraska, and em ployed as field clerk for the Westing house. Church-Kerr Co., of Manhattan. He was a member of Freeport Council No. 57, Jr. O. U. A. M. SARAH J A NE LEWIS Sarah Jane, widow of the late Wil liam Lewis, aged 77 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William T. Raynor, 104 North Bergen Place, on Monday, after a brief illness. Mrs. Lewis was one of the oldest and best known residents of Freeport, and a life-long attendant and member of the ; M. E. Church.
