While any of these schools are open to graduates from IvOng Island, those wishing to avail themselves of their teachings must go to considers ble expense for carfare and board while attending school, but witli its establishm ent in a central location on Long Island, a great deal of this would be unnecessary. At the present time there are 419 teachers on Long Island, and the ma jority of them are residents of other sections than Nassau and Suffolk Coun- tes. It ie aigued that with the estab taire, a falling apple, and conceived tbe idea which ultim ately found ex pression in the theory of gravitation. W hether Sir Isaac Newton, then a boy of twenty-three, really exw the apple fall or not m a tters very little, but that, sitting in that Lincolnshire g a r den, there stirred in his mind the per ception of a great idea which years afterw a rds bore fruit, there is no doubt. For centuries the world has regarded Newton as one of the great est of its thinkers, and yet the day is steadily dawning when it will be per ceived that Newton’a discovery of this great material law in the physical realm was absolutely nothing beside the momentous discovery by Mrs. Eddy of that absolute, spiritual lew, first proclaimed and demonstrated by Jesus of Nazareth, in Palestine, which, a fter centuries of human forgetfulness, be gan to be made again available for hu man needs, as a practical and demon strable fact, on that February even ing, in the yeer .1866. At first Mrs. Eddy's Hfe was de spaired of, or a t all events the utmost that the doctors hoped for was a life of prolonged invalidism. When she was taken bom\ to her house in Swampscott, it was, in tbe opinion of those about her, only the beginning of resolutions condemning .the killing ct j Kahment of a Normal School on Long j the end. It was then, that at any of the elk in the Adirondacks an d ' • ■ - • ■ --------- - - • - -■ . . . - •> Island, * much larger percentage would be residents of the section. Some weeks ago there was s tarted a definite movement to secure the pass age of a law establibhing a school .at once.
