Six weeks ago twin deer were born at the Hippodrome. The event eaa of onoioal interest in view of the fact that they were the first deer born in captivity in a building in a large city. The picture shows the mother arid lit tle fawns as they apperir today. There is a herd of sixteen Scotch red deer used in (be Scottish Highland scene In the spectacle, \Under Many Flags,*’ this season’s season’s produc tion at the Hippodrome. Tb#y were imported last semmer front the High lands of Scotland near Holy Rood Pal ace from the royal game-preserves outside of Edinburgh. Ever since they became part of our great city life they have been cared for with the most ex acting attention. All who see them scamper across the big Hippodrome stage as the son is ris ing and Wearing the azure haze of the rugfeed scene in the blue Heather hill* of Scotland, are amazed and delighted with the dainty manner in which these tiny, innocent eyed creatures gaze out upon the audience. - The twins at birth weighed a little over 9 pounds each and were spotted red and white similar to the fallow deer of America. When they mature, Dr. Potter says they obtain their nat ural color, much as those now appear ing in the Scotch acene at the Hippo drome. For oser three months the mother has been fed on warm bran maahee, carrots, turnips and apples. The little ones are now being fed bread and milk aa part of their added daily diet. They have been akipping and gam boling through the Scotch scene with their mother during the past week. Johnson’s Under-Lac imparts a beautiful, brilliant and lasting finish to floors, woodwork and furni ture—over surfaces being dressed for the first time, over dye, stains, filler or the bare wood. You know the fault of varnish. It is thick, sticky— dries slowly in a molded way. Johnson's Under-Lac produces a splendid, permanent finish. For Linoleem and Oilcloth est. Gallon cans, $2. 50. Smaller cans, down to half pintl A trial of any o( the famous Johnson’s Wood Finishing Materials—of which we carry a full stock—will convince you of their merit.
