H e bow e d very nicely, because S a n t a C laus is a very polite g e n tlem a n , an d said; “ Good eveniug, P r i n c e s s ; I called to see if y o u r H ig h n e s s w o u ld like to tak e a w a lk .” T h e P r in c e s s sm iied an d said, “ T h a n k you, S a n ta C laus, th a t is j u s t w h a t I have been w a n tin g to do all day, b u t th e r e was no gentlem a n aro u n d I cared to w a lk $?ith,” and she took S a n ta C lau s ’s arm au d th e y went w a lking o u t of th e b e a u tifu l ro o m s ’ w h e re she had been liv iu g into th e street. To p rev e n t an y b o d y stealin g her beautiful dresses, and I am sorry to say th a t th e r e are bad, wicked, n a u g h ty dolls who steal o t h e r dolls' gloves an d h a n d k e r c h ie f s an d who tell fibs, and do o tb e r aw ful t h i u g s , S a n ta C laus packed all h e r d r e s s e s , bonnets, gloves, shoes, stockings* parasols, fans, u m b rellas, b ib s , ap r o n s , w a ter proofs, h a n d k e rch iefs au d bracelets in to a doll t r u n k .
