Watson of Australia, Brown was awarded 'a technical knockput at the end of the sixth round, 'This was when a cut Watson recefved in a recent with this Watson, seemingly unfamiliar the rules of the fight game in a volley of lefts and rights which made Brown run to cover. The fight, al- Jhough a goed draw up to the point of Watson brought a wicked left into play after the men shook bands, Get- ting in close to Brown he uncorked a wonderful uppercut and switched to in- fighting. Brown caught Watson flush on the jaw but it appeared not to effect him. Watson appeared careless, not covering up properly and Brown taking advantage slammed in a flurry of left and rights which counted well in the points which guve the round to Brown. Watson began the second with a mad rush and crashed home a left to the Jaw following it with a right to the stomach which staggered Brown who after clinching and stalling for a min- ute put over a volley which nearly put Watson on the canvas. Watson took all Browh had and stayed with him gamely, giving and taking, when the bell ended the round, In the third round Brown fell into the bad graces of the crowd by hitting Wat- son several times after the men had broken and before he was set. Brown went after Watson and appeared to have him going when Watson turned and 'mixed at a furious pace, punishing Brown severely with his body blows. When the bell ended the round both figthers were all in from: furious fight» ing. In the fourth found Watson gaining strength and driving home his. terrible left to Brown's stomach causing Brown to suff«? and swing wildly. The referee again cautioned Brows for not break- ing clean. 'Tibby took the lead in the fifth and sent over two to the head. Brown evened.up maffers by returning two rights, Watson. Again coming back mnd keeping on top he inflicted severe punishment. 'The round ended with Watson crashing a left to his opponents jaw. When the gong sounded the fans were in an uproar. The sixth opened with Brown clinch- Ing. Brown shot over a right to the jaw which hurt Tibby. He responded with two lefts to the stomach. In a furious mixup Brown who had opened a cut on Watson's eye, belted the eye again, causing it to almost close and making his sight poor. Brown appeal ed to the referee to stop the fight which he did shortly after. Fang at the ring- wide were of the opinion that Brown was glad for a chance to escape from further punishmtnt. Although Brown fought a good fight, the comeback pow- er of the Australian lad was beginning to show on him. A return bout prob- ably would find Watson the winner. The semi-final, an eight round event, brought Larry Goldberg of New York and Rappy (Jorman of South Brooklyn together. entered the ring in what appeared to be poor condition an« his showing was far below the stand ard he has displayed on recent occa sions. His opponent was-a marked con third and awarded to Goldberg. Gor, man's seconds throwing in the towel. Gorman, bleeding badly from the eye fans applauded his gameness but th: judement of the manager was in the interest of Gorman and the fight gume Nk Tapirata, formerly: Jackie Dunr Both have 'mixed at a furious pace throughout the fight and a draw would probably have been much more to the liking of the crowd. Lapiruta carries a terrible wallop in his right which an moyed Sammy throughout the fight. Marco, also o punishment inflcter, caught Lapiruta on the jaw when com: ing off the ropes in the second which nearly spelled disaster. The opening fight between Johnny Vestri and Herbby Tietan was uninter esting. Before the main bout, Al Ketchell, the popular bantam of Free port was introduced by Announcer Wal- lace and he was received very well by the crowd who remembered his many fine fights at the club last season Ketchell will appear at the local clut within two weeks. \WERE BEATEN ALREADY\ CRY DEMOCRATS Continued from page one with his story. \Actions speak louder than words\ for the third time Mr. Abrams control led his Adams apple enough to impart t the audience and then he went on and gave the words, haltingly, but he did get them out.
