‘PHILANTHROPIC LEAGUE HAS MEETING Delegates Welcomed Ai Lynbrook By Selma Rose, President The Long lalsnd Philanthropic les- gue, iu aid of physically handicapped und needy children, held Its first fall meeting Monday in the Knights of Columbus hall, Lynbrook, Mrs. Selma Rose, elected to the office of president In May, welcomed the large gathering after the summer recess were given of the summer's work and of the executive board meeting held from time to time through the sum- mer, 'The president entertained mem- bers of the club June 9 ai the Nort Shore Beach club in Port Wachington Mrs,/Prank Frankel was their hostess July 28 at the Arcade Baths, Long Beach. September 8, Mrs. Clarence Berwin of Cedarhurst again enter- tained them at the-North hore Beach club, There are now 300 members cn- rolled on the league's roster. Reports were made of the quantity of Grade A Milk being distributed to the needy children of Nassau. Medi- cal attention was given. during the summer to children In Seatord, Pree- port, Bellmore, Hewlett, Valley Stream and Cedarhurst, as weh as food, or- thopedic shoes, tonsil operations and elothing. Doctors have given their services free in certain cases that the league has been handling. Inmates of county institutions also are receiv- ing cheer from the Sunshine fund Five sewing machines have been placed mt the disposal of the league, and various county hospitals will ben- efit. Lynbrook Malverne Guild Plans Opening Card Party The opening card party of the fall season of Our Lady of Lourdes gulld, of Malverne, will be held Thursday afternoon, September 25, at 2:30 o'clock. Reports were presented by Mrs. A. Fliner and Mrs. Lena Schmidt Mrs. Fliner also gave an Interesting report on the naval convention which she attended at that time. Miss Janet Blair, senior vice presi- dent, presided because of the iliness of the president, Mrs. Helen Ebert. Plans for the coming season were dis- cussed and it was voted to hold a Hallowe'en party, The entertainment committee with Miss Blair as chiir- man, will be in charge.
