A resolution offered b^ Supervisor Edgar A. Sharp set Nov. 24 as the date for levying- 1941-42 taxes in the county. The board stood for a moment of silence in tribute to . the late Capt. Herbert N. Edwards , of Amagansett , former* East Hamp ton supervisor , who died at his home on July 13. Towi H' way Map Is b -the - Making Wi ll Show Various Routes and Their Character Planning Board Reports Progress to Town Board — Long Job , With Status Some Roads Disputed The map of Brookhaven town , des- ignating its roads according to state , county and town hi ghway systems , as well as private roads , is now in course of preparation , the Town board was informed last week in a letter from Town Planning' Consult- ant John M. Muddeman. The Towm board decided to ask for such a map following a recent discus- sion concerning the question of the aggregate length of hi ghways in the town system. Exjilaining that such a map al- ready had been started , Mr. Mudde- man wrote that the final completion of the map \ of necessity, requires considerable time as the legal status of many of the roads is somewhat in question. \ He said that the various classes of roads would be designated on the map by colors. Raynor Reappointed Attendance Officer Percy B. Raynor of East Moriches , attendance officer for the common schools of Brookhaven town for the past several years , was re-appointed for the coming year by the Town board last week. The position car- ries a salary of .$1 , 500 annually. Mr. Raynor serves 17 school districts throughout the town. D EATHS IN SUFFOLK ARTHUR W. RANDOLPH Arthur W. Randolph , aged 60 , a retired painter , of Ridgedale ave- nue , Farmingville , died July 18 in Mather Memorial hospital , Port Jefferson. Mr. Randolph was born in New' Jersey, and had lived in Farmingville lor the past several years. He leaves his wife , Mrs. Alma M. Randolph of Farmingville , and a son , Symore Randolph of Brooklyn. The funeral service was held July 21 m the Rulawl Funera l chapel , . North Ocean avenue , Patchogu e , the Rev. Carl G. Gernannt , pastor of \Eman- uel. Luthera n church of Patchogue , officiating. Effie Virginia McFarland , aged 44 , who had been active in civic Avork in Ridge since moving there three years ago , died Saturday at her home on Smith road , Ridge , following a brief illness. Born in Washington , D. C , a daughter of the late Thomas and. Or- villa Bresnalian , Mrs. McFarland had a very interesting career. \ During her childhood , \Buffalo \ Bill Cody -would bring her books on each visit of his Wild West show to Wash- ington , and would take her and her little playmates to the show. This friendship arose through her father , who served five enlistments in the United States Army, two of them in the Scout se-rvice in the Indian wars. Mrs. McFarland attended St. Pat- rick' s academy . in Washington. Dur- ing the WorLd war , she was employed in the Arm y department in Washing- ton , and at one time was secretary to the late Gen. Town Still Undecided On Name for Beach After Officials ' Visit The question of an official name ;. - ¦ - . • tlie new Brookhaven town-owned beach on Great South beach near \Water Island is still a matter oi I' xmfinished business \ for the Town Board of Trustees. Members of tlie Town board were guests of the Town trustees on an inspection trip yesterday at the beach , and , while the subject of an official name for the recreational spot was discussed , no conclusion was reached. The site of the beach was given to the town several years ago by Mal- colm L. Davis of Blue Point. It was recently improved by dredsinsr and dock construction with a $4 , 500 ap- propriation included in the town bud- get adopted last fall. Those taking part in the trip, rep- resenting the Town board , were Su- pervisor Edgar A. Sharp , Justices of the Peace Arthur R. Reich of Med- ford and Ulysses Johnson of Center Moriches , and Town Clerk Andrew D. Havens , and the representatives of the trustees ' group wer e Town Trus- tees Ira D. Rogers of Bellnort , board president , Harry B. Paine , Rowland T. Baker , both of Patchogue , Richard P. Newton of Lake Ronkonkonia ancl Fred Brown of Port Jefferson. Town Bay Constable Marion Per- kinson of Patchogue transported the group to the beach aboard his boat , and they remained there for nearly four hours. Supervisor Sharp commended the trustees for the work that already had been completed by way of dredg- ing and dock construction , and sahl that , . in his opinion , consideration should be given further development of the site. The beach parcel, is 200 feet wide and extends more than 700 feet be- tween the bay and ocean .
