Farmers Shippeis of New York State fraits an<l vegetables will benefi t by \ very substantial reductions \ in freight rates from important shi pping sta- tions in New York to the leading markets iri New England territory, according to an announcement by.th e Traffic Bureau of the Department of Agriculture and Markets . Most of the reductions in railroad shipping costs became . effective July 20. The lower rates were instituted voluntarily by the carriers to meet motor truck competition , and nearly all railroads servin g New York State cut the rates to New England. One of the important changes noted by the Traffic Bureau is a group- ing system which replaces many sep- arate rates. From \Western Now Y OT I C to iri' ony important New England sta- tions , heavier products move for .80 cents an<l lighter products for. 34 cents a hundred pounds, New Draft Names In Official Order The official order numbers given to the 148 age 21 men listed in the sec- ond Selective Service registration on July 1 in Local Draft Board District 702 were announced Thursday at District 702 headquarter s , 25 Lake street , Patchogue. The official numbers closely fol- lowed the tentative order numb ers listed in this newspaper a week ago following the . drawing of the capsule numbers from a goldfish bowl in Washington. Under a key system established for this district , the . 148 men reg- istered July 1 wer e placed amon g the names in the original registration list , - one to every 15 numbers , beg in- ning at Order No. 951 , which was the nuniber of the last man prospec- tively called for service up to that time. Numerically, on the basis of one in every 15 , the new men would be given order numbers such as 966 , 981 , 996 , and so on , but because some names liad been inserted in the orig- inal list after - its completi on , and were given duplicate numb er s with the prefix . \A , \ this sequence could not exactly be carried out. There- fore , the official numbers differ slight- ly from the tentative numbers- pub- lished a week ago. The official numbers for nearly half of the 148 new men are listed here- with . The names listed extend up to Order No. S-2011 , which number ex- cept for an unlimited national emer- gency, would not be reached for a long time according to the ' present rate the men are being called into service.
