Pat, 2426 Dreyer ' s Estate Left Mainly to His Widow The late Suffolk County Sheriff Jacob S. Dreyer of Port Jefferson left the bulk of his estate to his widow , Mrs. Lucy A. Oviatt Dreyer , accord- ing to a petition filed over the week- end in the Surrogate ' s office in River- head. Mr. Dreyer died two weeks ago in Springfield , Vt. The petition say s the estate con- sists of \ more than $10 , 000 in personal property and more than $10 , 000 in real property. \ There are two trust bequests of $100 each to the Cedar Hill Cemetery association of Port Jefferson for the care of the Dreyer and (Matt family plots. The remainder of the estate is be- queathed to the widow . Under a con - tingent provision of the will , which was executed June 10 , 1939 , Mr. and Mrs. Dreyer ' s five children would have equally shared' the estate had Mrs. Dreyer died before them. The children are Miss \Vivian O. Dreyer , Mrs. Alta Adams , Jacob S. Dreyer , Jr., all of Port Jeffe rson , Mrs. Virginia D. Schubert of Bethlehem , Pa., and Mrs. Lucie L. D. Hitchcock of Springfield , Vt. Mrs. Dreyer and Miss Vivian O. Dreyer , who is an attorney, are ap- pointed executrices under the will. *Co3*&m Mary Hahn records the doings in Coram each week. The Home Bureau held an exhibi- tion at the community house on June 3. The members showed articles which they had completed in the local unit. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Gottwald and children of Sayville were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs . Raymond Still on Sunday. The bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Harold Davis last Thursday. Mrs. L«ster Davis won first prize. The Coram Republican club met at the cluhrooms at tlie Scberio home on Yaphank road last Friday evening. Mrs. Leslie Hough , Mrs. C. Paradise , Mrs. I. Amato , Mrs. Jacob Baczensky and Mrs. Sal Scherio were appointed to the entertainment committee. Mrs. Richard Morris and Mrs. R. Hahn are on the refreshment committee. Plans , were made for a dance to be held in July or August. The nest meeting will be postponed one we ek to July 11 , as the regular meeting night falls on July 4. Griffing;, retired automo- bile dealer of Remsenburg, ome of two persons killed in a head-on automo- bile collision on Robinson boulevard , East Patchogue , on the night of Feb- ruary 8 , left an estate of §24 , 020.17 gross , and $21 , 813.39 net , according to an inheritance tax proceeding filed in the Surrogate ' s court in Riverhead. The accident , which occurred where the old Robinson boulevard and the new route converge , just east of the Swan River nursery, invo l ve d a west- bound suburban car , owned by the United States- Army and driven by Sergt. William A. Joyce , of Camp U pton, and an eastbound sedan , own- ed and driven by Mr. Griffing. Sergt. James M. B arnes of Camp U pton , a passenger in thc Army ear , was killed instantly. Mr. Griffing, who was 72 years old , died on the way to the Southside hospital , Bay Shore. Of the appraised gross total of $24 , 020.17 in the Griffing estate , $15 , - 150.17 was in personal property, and there is a $5 , 000 life insurance pol - icy, payable to his widow , Mrs. Maude Teller Griffing, who was among the five others iniured in the accident. The estate will pay a tax amount- ing to $95.42. The formal division of the estate is set forth in the filed papers as follows: Maude T. Griffing, the widow , -$7 , 271.13; Marie C. Davis , daugh ter , $14 , 542.26. Suffolk Librarians Discuss Task Ahead At Institute Forum Author , Miss Allis , and State Repre- sentatives Address Large Audience —New York , New Jersey Visitors \The Library ' s Problems in the World of Today and Tomorrow \ was the topic taken for general discussion at the Suffolk County Library insti- tute last Friday in- the ballroom of the Patchogue hotel. In addition to a forum on this question, the meeting heard speeches by Miss Marguerite Allis , author of the best-seller , \Not Without Peril , \ and Miss L. Marion Moshier and Miss Anna Clark' Ken- nedy, both of the State Education de- partment , Albany. Miss Moshier presided over the af- ternoon session of the conference , which was in general charge of Mrs. Alma D. Custead , librarian of the Patchogue library. Miss Kennedy took \\New Materials for School Librar- ians \ as her subject , and Miss Allis told how usefu l libraries had been to her in her life and work , especially •during; her studies in France and Eng- land. Miss Moshier and Miss Ken- 3iedy also discussed book introduc- tions. More than 150 librarians , library trustees ancl representatives of the Friends of the Library attended at the \meeting coming from Suffolk county, jBrooklyn , Queens , New York , New Jersey and Albany.
