Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Orford and son Richard , are again occupying their home on Long Island avenue , after havin g been in Virginia since last fall. Mr. Orford was working- there. For the first time in over , a year , a preliminary naturalization hearing was held in Patchogue last Thursday. With Inspector Edward D. Zucker of the United States Department of Immigration and Naturalization in charge , assisted by Mrs. Ann Shust- erman and Miss Frances Nathanson , the hearing took place in the county clerk' s branch office on Lake street , for the purpose of verifying and checking; up the time of arrival in this country of various aliens who are preparing to file citizenship app lica- tions. Accompanied by their witnesses , about 20 aliens , from Patchogue and vicinity were examined at the ses- sion and were saved a trip to River- head, through the efforts of County Clerk Trank Markvart in placing the Patchogue office at the disposal of the Immigration service.
