With about a -half-dozen firemen on board , a truck of Patchogue ' s • Van Guard Hose company was driven up to the Patchogue I'ailroad station bearin g a large sign , \Look.Out Hit- ler , . Five of the 18 men were volunteers who expressed preferancnt tu go aliead on the draft: list , f ind two members of the quota filled iu as replacements for men rejected in the seventh quota sent off on March 17. Another mem- ber of the group, Robert Louis Par- rett of 10 West avrjnue , Patchogue , was the first volunteer-draftee , who did not have mi order number , because he did not roach his twenty-first b irth- day until after draft registration day last October.
