Last Thursday Perry Clark e of Utica entertained the children of tbe Medford school with his trick fiddle playing, magic and comedy. He also visited each classroom and gave hand- writing demonstrations. The classrooms have received thgir Junior Red Cross posters and pins and the pupils are now enrolled mem- bers of this organization. On Friday afternoon the assembly feature was a movie from the Y. _M. C. A.r the subject , \Vermont' s Maple Industry . \ The film showed the methods of obtaining maple sugar , both old and modern , and the various uses of the syrup and sugar. Friday - after school the boys of Medford enjoyed play day at the Blue Point school. The feature of the afternoon was basketball , and among- those taking part were Thomas Sporck , Alfonso Fueci , Louis Halik , John Condon , James Murray, John Connelly, Martin Connelly, Timothy Crowley and Richard Boehl. Next week , from Monday to Friday, the school will observe \Bill of Rights \ week and each room will take part in a program. Plans have been completed for the dinner to be held at the Veterans hall on Monday, February 17 at 7 p. m. There will also be entertain- ment by Harry Ferrier , the magi- cian. The parents of the eighth grade pupils are in charge of the supper. Mr. Cla rk is making a tour of tho island visiting various schools. School in this district is closed to- day, Lincoln ' s birthday. Last Tuesday afternoon a Girl Soout troop was organized with 12 girls present, Mrs. Dora Smith is scout leader and Miss Helcne Kinsley, assistant leader. The trc-op commit- tee consists of Miss Edna Horn , chair- man; Mrs. Dolly Meier , secretary and treasurer , and Mrs. Charlotte Terry, Mrs . Helen Terry, Miss Mar ion Schwenk , Mrs. Alice ' Read and Mrs. Grace Wentisch. The second meeting was held at the school yesterday af- ternoon. The Girl Scouts are plan- ning to hold a card party on March 7. Princi pal Clinton S. The elementary boys have resumed their shop work at the school, and meetings are being held each Monday evening. Last Friday afternoon Perry Clark entertained the pup ils of Holbrook school with demonstration s of unusual penmanship, some parlor tricks and novelty selections on th*e violin.
