Frank Morgan Comedy Coming to the Rialto Imagine Frank Morgan doing a seriou s love scene in the voice of Clark Gable and you 'll see how \Hullabaloo , \ scheduled for. a three- day run at the Rialto theatre , Patch- ogue , starting this Wednesday, was designed to make audiences laugh. The film introduces several new personalities , including Leni Lynn , Kay St. Germaine ancl \Virg inia O'Brien , dead-pan torch singer and the negro tenor , Charles Holland. In the regular cast are Billj e ' Burke , Sara Haden , , Connie Gilchrist , Vir- ginia Grey, Dan , Daily, Jr., Donald Meek and Reginald \Owen. Plans Are Shaped Up For Ball on Jan. 30 , Hel p Paral ysis Fund As part of the annual nation-wide drive to raise funds to combat in- fantile paralysis , a Brookhaven town committee , headed by Edward Hudson of Patchogue , will sponsoi' a Pres- ident' s Birthday ball on Thursday ev ening, J anuary 30 , at the Tatchogue hotel. Final plans were made at a com- mittee meeting Friday night at the home of Mr. Hudson , who is president of the Patchogue Citizens Bank and Trust company. Herbert F. Austin of Patchogue was placed in charge of the dance and entertainment com- mittee. The committee announced Mon- day that Col. C. W. Bair d , Commanding officer of Camp Upton , and other officers from «fte camp have expressed their willingness to co-operate by at- tending the ball. The camp will also furnish some of the entertainment , supplemented by several novel feat- ures. Those assisting Mr. Hudson are Mrs. Edgar M. Mapes , Edgar A. Sharp , R. Ford Hughes , Herman J. Schoenfeld , John R. Vunk , Mr. Austin , all of Patchogue - Mrs . Lester Davis of Coram; Mrs . Ward Melville , Mrs. Elizabeth Donaldson , both of Se- tauket ; Mrs. Peggy Learning, Stony Brook; Andrew D. Havens , August H. Stout , Jr., both of Center Mor- iches; Gustave A. Neuss of Yaphank and William Fry of Rocky Point. In a recent report on the finances of the Suffolk County chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis , Inc., Charles H. Sullivan of Northport ,. chapter president , said that the chapter ' s share of the Pres- ident' s Birthday balls in Suffolk in the past two years , along with the local share of the National March of Dimes , showed a net balance of $2 , - 448.70 as of December 1 , 1940. He said that the latter sum re- mained after expenditures of $298.70 for 1940 had been paid. The chapter , during its year s ac- tivity, he said , worked in conjunction with ' the Suffolk County Department of Health and all of the cases as- sisted by the .. chapter were investi- gated and certified by the Department of Health to be worthy recipients of the chapter ' s benefits . Cases were aided in G reenport , Pec- onic , Smithtown Branch , West Baby- lon , Port Jefferson , Flunting-ton Sta- tion and Mt. Sinai. The chapter rendered assistance to these, needy eases in all forms , rang ing irom re- pairs to braces , furnishing- special shoes , buying or repairing wheel- chairs and . helping with hospitaliza- tion. Investitur e , Election Girl Scout Troop 5 Investiture ceremonies were hel d by Girl Scout Troop 5 of Lake Ron- konkoma on Monday afternoon , for three members who were unable to attend the ceremonies at an earlier date. The three are : Marie Plume , \ who received her tenderfoot pin , and Dorothy Comins and \Gwendolyn Sei- bert , who received second class badges. Mrs. Harold Sorenson pre- sided. Besides these ceremonies , the three patrols in the troop each held elec- tion of officers. Mrs. Sorenson ' s pa : trol elected the following: Gwendolyn Seibert , patrol leader ; Dorothy Com- ins , assistant patrol leader; Lois Ok- vist , secretary; Marguerite Iiellmich , treasurer; Constance Davis , publicity. One dollar and fifty cents is all it costs for a subscription to The Mid- Island Mail. Milk Producers ' Vote k Stat e Called Off A second referendum among the 60 , 600 milk producers in the New York milkshed , which includes those in Suffolk county, on-amendments , to the Federal-state milk marketing con- trol order , was to have been held to- day- but was cancelled over the week- end in accordance with a United States Di s trict court decree issued in Washington. The decree chara cterized as \ capri - cious and arbitrary \ the threat of Secretary of Agriculture Claude R. Wickard to suspend the entire New York milk-control order unless the amendments were approved. Secre- tary Wickard*was restrained fro m suspending , the order. The New York milk producers gave the amendments, a- majority at a ref- erendum in December , ' but not the two-thirds approval required for pas- sage. In calling for - the second . ref- erendum , Secretary Wick ar d bad warned-that unless the eight amend- ments - were approved he would sus- pend the entire New York milk-con- trol order known as O rder No. 27.
