Last Wednesday a meeting of rail- way clerks was held at the Governor Clinton hotel in New York; for the purpose of electing officers for the ensuing year. William J. CWi Baird , commanding of- ficer of Camp Upton , announced last week the appointment of Lieut. Colonel Robert T. Snow as executive officer of the camp to succeed Lieut. Colonel Roy S. Gibson , who has been assigned to Camp Davis , Holly Ridge , N. C., on February 1. Colonel . Snow , who was last stationed at First-Mil- itary Area headquarters , Philadel- p hia , was . graduated from West Point in 1912. In the World war , he served overseas with the 47th . infantry of the Fourth division. Colonel Gibson came to Yaphank last June 3 as a major in charge of three officers and 56 men to establish Camp Upton as a sub- post of Fort Totten. This , missionary unit comprised the JL battery of the Panama Coast • Artillery detachment , now the Fifth Coast artillery. The post was officially opened in Octob er. February 1 will affo rd a- \ neld day \ for .philatelists- at-;Gamp Upton; for on that day the -camp ' s new , -post- office building, now nearing i eomp le- tioii in the new reception ; center; will be officially opened. ' Th e . new*postal unit- , - whi-ch will replace the two exist- ing units , will use a- \Camp Upton \ cancellation stamp, for the -first time on its op ening. At present , the camp mail , .averaging as hi gh as . 4 , 500 pieces daily, . carries- a \Yaphank\ cancellation stamp. D. -— At Sep- arate Firemen ' s Meeting, Dehe Is Made Trustee in Tlace of Beck The new Medical Service unit of the Ronkonkoma Fire department was fully organized Monday night , fol- low ing the-regular department meet- ing in the firehouse on Portion road. The unit will operate the new ambu- lance just purchased by the Ronkon- koma department. The ambulance will be placed in use very shortly. : About: 15 volunteer firemen , who attended the Medical Service unit meeting, voted to incorporate the unit , and elected the following officers : Francis ' Pfeiffe r , president ; : Henry Lange , Jr., - vice-president; • Francis C. Hugelmeyer , secretary; Charles Seibert , treasurer.
