Hawkins , Patchogue at- torney, was unanimously re-elected president of the Peoples National bank of Patchogue at the annual meeting of the bank' s board of di- rectors held Thursday at the bank ¦building on East Main street. The directors also unanimously , re- elected Walter G. Overton , Christian Krabbe and G. Howard Hatfield , vice- presidents; Mr. Hatfield , cashier; Carlton P. Quinlan , assistant cashier , and Mr. Hawki ns , counsel . At . the annual stockholders ' meet- ing held at the bank last Tuesday, the- following directors were unani- mously re-elected : Mr. Hawkins , Mr. Overton , Mr. Krabbe , Mr. Hatfiel d , Dr. Edwin P. Kolb , Edward Pfeiffer. John R. Ruland and Frank Silverman. The annual report of the bank , submitted at the annual stockholders ' meeting, showed that the bank' s de- posits ' ; increased . ;about : $125;000 , and that about -S10 , O00' was added to the capital-account. It was reported that in the ' • 12-month period , \Over 1 , 400 new loans - were - .made to business concerns and . individuals , and that this represented.an increase over the 1939 business. In 1940 , the bank paid its : third consecutive .annual dividend on . the 1,000 shares of connnon • stock. The 1940 dividend was $2.50 a share, as compare d with the 1939 figure of $2 and the . 1938 figure of §1. The . statement , also indicated that the bank -i. - being \ \ continued in a very liquid condition , the major part of its .assets being cash and govern- ment and municipal securities , aggre- gating over $1 , 100 , 000; The loans as of December 31 , 1940 , totalled $618 , 429. The officers and directors expressed gratification with the results of the operations of the Institution. The Peoples . National bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance corporation and of the Federal Re- serve- bank. The personal loan and the trust departmeiits especially had turned in good earnings , he said , adding tha t two trust department matters tha t had been annoying were cleared up during the year , These were the Nettie Roe hospital trust and the Van Pelt, suit , each of which was cleared up without any loss to the bank. He said .some valuable new trust business had been received and con- cluded during the year and the in- terested parties had expressed their appreciation of the excellent services the bank had rendered. It was also pointed out that during 1040 some of the preferred \A\ stock had been- retired. Mr. Hudson also called attention ' to -improving conditions and increas- ing activities in business. A recent county-wide survey, he said , showed, that there is about $400 in deposits* in Suffolk banks for each person in the county. 6. L, F .
