Pat. 1193-J The Medford Rod and Gun club held its second meeting of the sea- son last Friday evening at Cerny ' s garage on the State road , \ with Pres- ident Al Cerny presiding. After the business , a social was held. The club has posted various wooded sec- tions about Medford. A number of Bellport High school students and young folk of Medford enjoyed a Hallowe ' en party and so- cial last Thursday evening at the Bellport High school gymnasium giv- en by the Parent-Teacher associa- tion. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mazzoni and children , who have been living on Waverly avenue for some time, mov- ed las t week to Huntington , where Mr. Mazzoni is employed on a Krug route. Mrs. Mazzoni was formerly Miss Agnes Weber. Because of the fire here last Fri- day evening, the meeting of the Medford Fire Department , Inc., was not held that night. The department and Ladies ' auxiliary has been in- vited to attend in uniform the par- ade at 2 p. m. Saturday, part of the dedication program of the new cross- ing- Mrs. Ferde Mistier of Ohio ave- nue will entertain the Tuesday ca rd club next week , the meeting this week being omitted because of the election. The ladies are planning to have a theatre party early in De- cember. Joseph Schlosser of Southaven ave- nue , who was injured in an auto accident last Monday, is now home from the hospital and is fully recov- ered. Richard Grating and son John of Jamaica spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Condon of the State road. They enjoyed several hours of hunt- ing. The local nimrods and their hounds have been out each day since hunt- ing season opened on Friday and all have reported many rabbits bagged. Mr. aud Mrs. Henry Leibfried and sons , Henry and George , and Mr. and Mrs. J. Jimenez and Miss Marie Jimenez of Richmond Hill were guests last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Zeidler of the State road. The senior class of Seton hall , tlie Patchogue Catholic High school , en- joyed a dance Monday evening at St. Lawrence ' s R. C. auditorium , Say- ville , which a few of the .local boys a ttended. Mrs. T . L. Cullum fur- nished music. The affair was run to defray expenses on the yearly publication of Seton hall. The Junior prom will be held Thursday evening, Novem ber 21 , at the Patchogue hotel. Mr. and Mrs. James Fucci and family, who had been living on Tre- inont avenue , have moved to Pat- chogue. The Henry James Jones post and a uxilia ry, Veterans of Foreign Wars , will hold their annual Armistice ball next Monday evening at the Veter- ans hall. The Island Coal and Lumber com- pany bowling team won two out of three games Monday evening, de- feating the Echo five at Arata ' s al- leys , Port Jefferson. Last week the local team beat the Ronkonkoma Wall Paper company three games straight. The local team is in first place in the league. The annual tournament of the five- man Class B bowling tournament got under way a few weeks ago at Ar- ata ' s alleys with the following teams taking part: R. C. A., Syossct , Swe- zey Oilers , Sinclair Oilers , Smith- town Fire department , Stony Brook , Curtis Coal and Fuel company and the Hunter ' s Five , sponsored by Hunt- er ' s inn of Coram. Plans for the parade and dedica- tion of the new Medford station and bridge crossing are going forward , under direction of the Medford Tax- payers ' association , and all local or- ganizations have been invited to par- ticipate. Edward Pirner , who was in charg e , became quite ill on Saturday, but Harry Truman , president of the as- sociation , and Mrs. E. Theis , secre- tary, will carry on the program. The parade will assemble at the large school and at 2 p. ni. will marc h up the State road. The Home Bureau is meeting ' to- day at the home of Mrs. A. Fischer for a class in posture , which Will be given by Mrs. E. Theis and Mrs. E. Graham , who attended a leaders ' class at Bay Shore last Friday. Last year , the feet and good walking pos- itions were studied. This year , car- riage and mild exercises will be taken up. Mrs. E. A. Theis attended the Suffolk County Home Bureau Exec- utive board meeting at Riverhead on Monday when plans were made for the annual county Home Bureau meeting on December 10. The New York State \Federation meeting of Home and Farm Bureaus and 4-H clubs will tak e place at Syracuse this year on November 26 , 27 and 28. Several local members plan to attend , also Mrs. Charles Hirschi , president of the county department , as delegate; Mrs. Vernon Wells , vice-president , as alternate and Mrs. Vera Brush , county agent. The Medford Republican club will meet Friday evening at the Com- munity hall. Holy communion will be celebrated at St. Mark' s Episcopal church Sun- day morning. The Rev. W. Robert Hampshire of Bellport officiated for the first time at Medford last Sun- day. A lecture on \Consumer Buying \ will be given at the school next Tuesday at 1:30 p. m., under the auspices of Suffol k County Home Bureau. Miss Lucille Williamson of Cornell university will give a dem- onstration and talk. All homemakers are invited to attend. The Girls ' 4-H club will have a foods class at the home of the lead- er , Mrs. E. A. Theis , on Saturday, November 16. Mrs. Theis met with Mrs. Eloise G. Mayer-Mayer Battle 2 FarmVille Women Is Serious for One One of the charges in the Mayer- Mayer case , Farmingville ' s neighbor-^ ly feud , was dismissed by Justice of the Peace Donald W. Shaw in Pat- chogue Thursday nigh t , while the oth- er was referred to the grand jury. The principals , next-door neigh - bors on Pinedale avenue , are Mrs. 01 ga Mayer and Mrs. Janka Mayer. They are not related. Late in September , Neighbor Olga was arrested , by Brookh aven Town police on a second , degree assault charge made by Neighbor Janka. Two weeks ago , when the. case was to come up for a hearing, Neighbor Olga made a counter-charge of sec- ond degree assault against Nei ghbor Janka , so the case was -postponed. Last Thursday night , after hear- ing the two , erstwhile friendly neigh- bors give their respective versions of the clash that precipitated the two charges , Judge Shaw dismissed the charge against Neighbor Janka , then ordered Neighbor Olga held- for the grand jury. Neighbor Janka alleged that the altercation started over the mis- treatment of'her 11-year-old' ..son by Neighbor Olga , who later came into the Janka Mayer home and made a remark to the effect , \Is that the xvay you bring up your children 1 ?\ One word led to another , Neighbor Janka isain *' , then Neighbor Olga at- tacked ber and , as a result , she sus- tained injuries of the skull and col- larbone and; a black eye , in the bar- gain. - ¦ , \ .
