Marie Mooney The new patrol of the local Girl Scout troop was g iven a surprise party by older members at the regu- lar meeting last Tuesday afternoon at the Ronkonkoma firehall. Mrs. James Davis is leader of the new patrol , which has eight members. Members of the Thursday Bridge club enjoyed dinner last week at the Bavarian Village , Wantagh . Tomor- row they will play bridge at the home of Mrs. Fred Smith of Lake terrace. Walter McNulty and Robert Busch , •who are employed at Falmouth , Mass., on the government barracks , motored to Ronkonkoma Sunday to visit their respective families. Warren Smith , a student at Fan- wood school , White Plains , spent a four-day holiday over the week-end with his parents , Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Lake terrace. The Lake R onkonkoma Study club met last Friday and enjoyed luncheon at the Main e Maid , Huntington. Tliey later visited the Huntington Histori- cal society. Those taking ' part in the meeting were Mrs. Arthur Browne , president , Mrs. George Ken- neth , Mrs. Frank Swain , Mrs. Arthur Terrv , Mrs. J. Yesterday he was the guest of his roommate , William Hark - ness of Nyack. Jean Berger , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. William Berger of Weiekers avenu e , entertained several young friends last Friday evening in honor of her fourteenth.birthday. The base- ment play-room where the party was held, was appropriately decorated in orange and black , punctuated by pumpkin faces and skeletons. Corbett of Smith road. No date has been set for the wedding. Mrs. Charles Yenke is remaining for several days with her daughter , Mrs. William Cop e of South Oxone Park. Mr. and Mrs. John Faltin of New York have taken a house on Portion road , - where they will be ' permanent residents. They have a daughter , Lottie , who has been living here with an aunt , and attends the Lake Ron- konkoma school. Mrs. Kate Davis of Portion road is slowly recovering from an attack of pneumonia which she su ffered last week. The KafTee Klatsch will be enter- tained tomorrow afternoon by Mrs. Joseph Cipp of Cedar avenue. The Blessed Virgin sodality of St. Joseph' s R. C. church will have its regular meeting tomorrow evening at St. Joseph' s parish hall. Thomas Powell , 22-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Oliver Powell of Hail- road avenue , has enlisted in the army and is stationed in the aviation divi- sion at Mitchel field , Mineola. He is a graduate of \ the Lak e Ronkon- koma school , and Sayville High school and was graduated from the Roose- velt Aviation school , where he studied airplane mechanical work. As a,farewell tribute to their for- mer pastor , the Rev. John R. O'Ma- Jioney, who waa - transferred it week ago to the pastorate of St, Lawrence ' s church in Sayville , members of St. Joseph' s R. The Young People ' s Kecreation club met last Friday evening .at the parish hall of the Methodist chUrch and selected the following officers : Derry Moll , president; Robert Hughe ' s , vice-president;- Marjorie VollgrafF , secretary; Charles Davis , treasurer. A committee was ap- pointed to propose some new games. The church committee was appointed to propose ' some new games. The church' committee will meet this evening at the home of Irving Col- lins to act on applications for mem- bership and other business. Mr. and Mrs. Charles H.
