He drove there last Week with his parents , who then continued on to Miami , Fla., where they will spend a short time. With current church interior dec- ora tion s to encourage them , the car- pet committee of the Lake Ronkon - koma Methodist church is working to make a success of the card party being held this Saturday at tiie Methodist parish hall next to tiie church at Five Corners. The games will start at 8 o ' clock sharp. The committee , consisting of Mrs. Frank Roettinger , Mrs. Sterling Girardet , Mrs. Selma Powell and Mrs. George PearsalL , has gathered a number of useful and attractive gifts , and is also arranging good refreshments. Zakary of troop 91 attended in St. James Monday evening, is planning a rally for October 25 , to be held at the St. James school. Another concern is tearing down the Biedenkamp pa- vilion . A split vote was the answer to an endorsement by the Lakeland company, of the Ronkonkoma Fire department , to form an independent company, at a meetin g of the com- pany last Wednesday at Liberty hall , Bohemia. The vote was taken after a long discussion. A talk was given by Joseph A. Kirk , in favor of a five-year protectorate , -which lie said would not work such a hardship on the taxpayers. The Lakeland di- vision was fo rmed a few month s ago , after coming under the pro- tectorate of the Ronkonkoma Fire department. Charles Wentisch Harold Seibenkas of Alice drive has a position in the State hospital in Brentwood. The last square dance of the season was held Friday, September 13 , at Duffield' s West Park beach pavilion by the senior patrol of Troop 5, The g irl s decorated the place with corn- stalks , streamers and colored lan- terns and the guests came in sun bonnets , gingham dresses and over- alls. A square dance orchestra from Patchogue furnished the music and Harry Mills called the sets. Mrs. Mills , commissioner of Central Suf- folk Girl Scout council , during the summer taugh t them a b out 20 square dances and secure d the mu- sic for these events , Mr. and Mrs. Duffield loaned their pavilion as a meeting place. Mr. and Mrs. Max Siebenkas of Alice drive entertained for three days last week Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Yardley of Paris , France . The Yard- leys left for Washington , D. C , on Monday morning, where Mr. Yard ley will take up his duties as a reserve officer in the IJ. S. Navy. He served with the U. S. Naval Intelligence s ervice ih France during the World War. The Yavdleys, who lived in Paris ' until recently, related the sto ry of the bombing of Paris , when their home was destroyed. Due , to the exceptionally warm weather a number of young people were seen bathing in the lake on Saturday. The sudden storm which came up on Saturday , afternoon , the second anniversary of the hurricane , served as a reminder to many people of that happening two years ago.
