Firehouse Mortgage Is Just a Headache To Brookl yn Woman Has Never Seen Cora m Property in Which She Has Money—To Be Sold September 21 A. firehouse seems a handy thing to have around in case of fire , but to Mrs. Mollie Golden of 603 Empire boulevard , Brooklyn , it is anything but handy. In fact , it, borders on the \headach e \ stage. Mrs. Golden is mortgagee of the former Coram firehouse , an imposing brick and concrete structure which has had neither fire engines or fire- men in several months. Asked what she planned to do with the bulky building, which stands on the west side of the Patchog-ue-Port Jefferson road , some distance south of Middle Country road , Mrs. Golden , in a newspaper interview a few days ago , rep lied ,, \I don 't know what to say. I wouldn 't know what to do with the firehouse and I don 't know what it might be good for. \ When she was asked to describe the property, Mrs. Golden admitted she had Heyer ever seen it. \Now you ' re putting me wise to something, \ she added. \Maybe I ough t to go down there sometime • and look it over, I got the mortgage a couple of years ago and I never bothered to see what kind of property it was. My lawyer takes care of everything. \ The firehouse is the one vacated by the Coram volunteer firemen after it was voted by the taxpayers of the new Coram fire district to have the district build a firehouse of its own , rather than take over the old build- ing with its heavy mortgage. Tbe firehouse was built in 1032 with T. E. R. A. The mortgage orginally was hold by the T. & S. Lumber company of Patchogue, The Coram Fire department has been ih defau lt on the mortgage since 1935. On July 26 last , a judgment for .H. 480.78 was entered in tbe Suf- folk County court. On Saturday, September 21 , the property will be auctioned in front of the Patchogue postoffice. M J ' S . Golden in all proba- bility will emerge.as the ' purchasor.
