Charles Berke , son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Berke of Long. Island avenue , has been engaged to teach next season in the Sharonhill High school in the . suburbs of Philadelphia , Pa. Mr. Berk e , W*ho graduated in May from Teachers- ' college in Ship - pensburg, Pa ., -will teach science , geography and will also be assistant coach of football. Mr. Berke was graduated from the Medford school and the Patchogu e High school and has been active in sports during his entire s chooling, Miss Marie Leonhardt , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Leonhardt of Ohio avenue , and William Weinrich , Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wein- rich of Mt. Vernon avenue , were among, the pupils who were graduated Sunday aftern oon from the Patch- ogue Parochial school . Tlie exer- cises were held at St. Francis de Sales R. C. church . A special meeting of the committee will be held this evening at the Dem- ocratic hall to make final arran ge- ments for the card party which will he held Friday evening by the Dem- ocratic club at the hall. Mrs. Gerard Nolan . of the State road entertained the Tuesday Nig*h t chi b this week, Mrs. Ferd e Mistier The Ladies ' auxiliary of the Med- ford Fire department , Inc., met at the firehouse last Thursday evening and three members were enrolled , Mrs. Otto. Jacobi , Mrs. Gustav Zeid- ler and Mrs. Walter Rowcroft. Five dollars was donated- to the Red Cross fund and tickets were distributed among the members. Those who re- ceived them were Mrs. Grace Smith , Mrs. N. Bianco , Mrs. Gerard Nolan , Mrs. Ferde Mistier and Mrs. George Mistier. A special Red: Cross fund for future emergency will be raised by collecting small contributions reg- ularly at meetings. Plans were formed for a minstrel show to be held in November , with the men and the auxiliary taking \ part. Refreshments ef cake and soda were enjoyed after the meeting.
