Con victed on 14 Counts Fraudulent Handling Isli p Road Oil Bills Former Supervisor Will Be Sentenced on May 22 Former Islip Supervisor Warren F. Greemhalgli of Bay Shore was convicted Monday by a jury before County Judge L. Barron Hill in Riverhead on 14 counts of auditing and pay- ing fraudulent bills- for Islip road oil. The jury of 11 men and one woman returned its verdict at midnigh t after nearly eight hours ' - deliberation , hav- ing received the ease at about 3 p. m. Mr. Greenhalgh will come up for sentence on May 22. Testimony in the case , begun last Tuesday, was concluded Friday, and court adjourned for the. week-end. Monday mornbig- was occupie d entirely by the summation, of James E. Wilkinson of Merrick , counsel for the defense ,, .an d the early part of the afternoon was taken up by* the district attorney ' s summation. The ju dge ' s charge , putting the case into the hands of the jury, occupied a half-hour. The building, situated nex t to the railroad siding that runs off the Main line track s of the Long Island railroad , east of the Ronkonkoma station , is the former \William Amott homestead and was own^d by Mrs. Anderson ' s father , C. H. Ne. . field. The first alarm was sounded about 8 p. m. and , according to the oc- cupants , the fire apparently was caused by a defective flue. The fire- men spent som e time combatting the stubborn blaze , then left , believing the fire was out. About 11 p. m., after several \ members of the family had retired , flames hroke out once again near the chimney, but the fire gained such headway this time that it was beyond control.
