Daps A freak blast in a ground surface coal mine at Carbondale , Pa., where he was employed as a supply man , brought fatal injuries February 6 to Clark Hinkley, aged 47 , of Carbon- dale , a brother of Mrs. Harold F. Davis of Coram. Mr. Hhnkley was in a small shack with a ifield foreman when the blast occurred nearby, sending into the air a shower of large rocks , two of which crashed ^ through the shack. Mr. Hinkley sustained a broken hip and a fractured skull. . He died 30 hours later. His companion in the shack suffered a back injury. Besides his sister , Mr. Hinkley leaves his wife , Mrs. Kathryn Hink- ley of Carbondale; a brother , ' Frank Hinkley of Delhi , N. Y., and \ two other sisters , Mrs. R. Bruce Simonson of Qneonta , and Mrs. Lawrence, H. Barber of Brattlebo . ro , Vt. . A ' The funera l service was held last Friday night at Carbondale. Mrs. William Wood , . vice-president of the council, will contra st general standards of social work with the specific standards in Suffolk county. Mrs. Ralph D. Howell , member of the Babylon Board of Education, will compare salary standards ' of social workers in Suffolk , with those in other counties of the state. . John E. Thomas , supervising prin- cipal of the Riverhead schools , will outline the results of a survey of school teachers in Suffolk. The 1940 Directory of .
