Carl Hoffmann Heads Medford Sport Club The M edford Athletic club held Its eleventh annual meeting ' at - the club- house last Tuesday evening and the following officers were elected: Pres- ident , Carl Hoffmann , succeeding James Kehoe who finished bis tenth year in that capacity and is retiring from further office in the club ; vice- president - Louis A. Finger ; secretary, William S. Matsunaye , ,Jr.; treasurer , George S. Mistier ; directors—Arthur Zeidler , Judge Arthur Reich , William Schleyer-an d Charles Kappler , elected for two years. Other directors on the board whose terms expire in 1941 are Alfred Burrough s , Frank Halik , Ferdinand Mistier and Mr. Matsun- aye. ' \ . The directors , who act on all \the business of the club during the year , meet on the second Tuesday of each month when tbe members gather for a social evening; The club is inter- ested in all athleti c activities and sponsors a variety of games. . An oil burner , the contribution of Mr. Hoff- mann , -will be installed before the February meeting, and later other facilities \vvill be added. LAKE RONKONKOMA SCHOOL With a view toward forming a sch o ol orchestra , Mrs. . Leonore K. Felber , music teacher of the Lake Ronkonkoma school , is how \ forming instrumental , classes. Any . parent having a musical instrument in the home and a child interested in scent- ing class instruction on the instru- ment should get in tou ch with the classroom , teacher or with Mrs. Fel - ber. Beginners and advanced classes will be conducted-in string, woodwind; brass and percussion . Piano classes , accordion groups , and a harmonica class will be organized. Regents examinations will take place next week in the Lake Ronkon- korna school , with pup ils from the Centereach school taking part; The schedule will be as follows : Monday morning, geography ; Monday after- noon- history , * Tuesday morning, Eng- lish ; Tuesday afternoon , spelling and silent reading; Wednesday morning, arithmetic Last Thursday during assembly a debate was held by seventh and eighth grade pup ils ^on \Whether gum chewing should be allowed in school . \ The debate was won by the affirma- tive team , Harold Taylor , Marion Backus and Charles Fedoriow. The negative team consisted of Rose Marie Gerken , Catherine Pusemp and Marion Anderson. The arguments Were judged by Frarices Susa , Norma Duffield , Alfred Signorelli and Tony Falcinelli. \ Laurel Ollson was chair- man.
