The youngei' members of Girl Scout Troop 1 , who have been making scrapbooks for patients at the Holts- ville sanatorium , have been invited to the Christmas entertainment . and party to be given there this after- noon. The older members , who are studying for photograp hy badges , under Mrs. William Brookes , went to Smithtown and Nissaquogue last week to take pictures. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Duffield have rented the home owned\ and recently occupied by Mrs. Joseph Fuhringer , on Hawkins av enue. The Dulfields have one child , Kenneth . Mrs. May Miller of Patchogue road will be today ' s hostess. Mrs. Harry Lyons of Pond road was recently given an award for having raised a 14-month-old turkey to 35 pounds. The Lyons family had the bird for Thanksgiving dinner. Members of William Merritt Hal- lock post , A. L., and the Boosters club are planning their annual New Year ' s party, to be held at the club- house on Church street , Sunday even- ing, December 31. Boy Scout troop 91 , which will not meet during the Christmas holidays, enjoyed a party Monday evening at the Ronkonkoma school. A grahbag and ice cream and cake were the main features. Walter Gubner is moving his winter clubhouse farther up on the lake shore , away from the water ,, where it was partly submerged. In the win- ter this clubhouse is a warming sta- tion for those whose finger s and toes suffer from cold during iceboating and skating. Louis Keiser , who is residing for the winter in Freeport , spent Sunday at the lake. A merry time will be had at Jack Yerk' s pavilion on New Year ' s eve. Free novelties will be given to ' all. The new association rates tenth in production out of 150 associations throughout the state. The men who are now engaged in the dairy herd improvement work voted to organize as a regulation Dairy Herd Improvement association and a board of directors was elected as follows : John Randall , Mt. Sinai; Donald Gould , East Hampton ; H. P, Hendrickson , ' Bridgehampton ; Fred Letson , East Norwich ; Frank Kent , Hempstead.
