The Women ' s Roosevelt Study club met last Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. T. W. Betts . of Ohio avenue , with a social following the meeting. Mrs. N. Bianco won a special prize , Mrs. H. Sporck won in aeroplane pinochle and Mrs. Herman Masem in bunco. After conferring with the Men ' s Democratic club at their meeting the following evening, it v/a s decided to hold a Christinas party for members of both clubs at tlie Democratic clubhouse next Wed- nesday evening. Mrs. John D. Betts entertained at cards at her home on Railroad avenue last Friday evening, Mrs. F, Carasiti , The Medford Parent-Teacher as- sociation will meet at the school to- morrow evening. A Christmas party will take place after the business meeting. Gifts will be exch anged , games played and refreshment s served. A fine program has been arranged by the committee. Perhaps the first appearance of Santa Claus in Medford took place at the meeting of the Medford. Republi- can club last Friday evening. Louis Senor of Long Island ave- nue underwent an operation on his nose a few days ago in a city hos- pital. He is recuperating rapidly. ,.. The choir of St. Sylvester ' s R. C. church is starting rehearsals for the Christmas masses. They meet each Monday evening at the church and are under the supervision of Mrs. T. L. Cullum. Weis- senberger , was operated on \for ap- pendicitis on Saturday at the South - side hospital in - Bay Shore and she is resting comfortably. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Masem , James , John and Jane Masem motor- ed to Brooklyn on Saturday. They visited Miss Mary Flynn. John \ Mizgier , Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mizgier of Robinson ave- nue , crushed his fingers whil e work - ing in New York last Wednesday. He is confined to St. Vincent' s hos- pital there. Community hall on Tuesday evening, December 26. A fine program has been arranged for the children and adults. The Harmony society also met and after their . meetings all en- joyed a supper and dancing. The Medford Home Bureau enjoyed an interesting meeting last Wednes- day afternoon , when a class in the making of holiday sweets was-given by Mrs. E. Theis. Mrs. Jackson and Miss King of Bellpor t were guests. It was announced that Medford was one of the winners of a prize in the membership contest at Riverhead last Tuesday having the highest per- centage in renewals durin g the year. The money allowance can only be used to send a delegate to Farm and Home week at Cornell university, Ithaca , February i2-17. Mrs. Theis was chosen as a delegate. Mrs. Theis attended the annual Suffolk County Farm and Home Bureau and 4 f H club meeting , at Riverhead last Tuesday afternoon and evening. She has been- acting -secretary on the Executive . board durin g the past year. The Medford group will meet at the home of Mrs. W. D. Warner on Mt. Vernon avenue next Wednesday for an all-day class in the making . of Christmas greens. A Christmas party with ' exchange of gifts , games and r efreshments will be held at tbe school on Wednesday afternoon , De- cember 27. The Medford Girl s ' 4-H club will meet at the home ' , of its leader this Saturday to make Christmas wreath s and decorations. The girl s will hold their Christmas party on December 28. Mrs ' . -E, Theis , ' 4-H leader • at- tended a training class on the room improvement projects , given, \by Miss Nancy Roman , specialist from Cor- nell university, at Riverhead last Wednesday. This work will* be taken up - by the older girl s next spring. It -will require careful considera- tion and study ' before any construc- tive work is done. House-to-house visits , conferences with the fam ily, and planning w ill be necessary. This work will take a period of three years before it is completed. Other elected officers are Valentine Harmon of East Islip, three-year trustee; Rich ard Busch of Patchogue , officer of the day ; Hor- ace McCartney of Bay Shore , officer of the . guard. These and officers to be appointed will be installed at the January meet- ing.
