It is equipped with green leather up- holstery. This bus is used to trans- port Lake Ronkonkoma children to Sayville High school and to take the grade school pupils to and from their homes. Night The \Suffolk County Farm Bureau at Riverhead is conducting another oi its anti -rat campaigns , in co-oper- ation with the Federal government . As in previous campaigns , the Farm Bureau will furnish at cost a pack- age of ready to use , canned rat bait to each person who enrolls. This is called tlie. safest effective bait known to science , specially pre- pared accordin g to a government ap- proved formula under the supervision of rodent control experts of the U. S. Biological Survey office. Each pack- age of bait will contain two cans , one of fish and one of meat , mixed with red squill powder , a material which is deadly poisonous to rats , but relatvel y harmless to human s and domestic animals. The anti-rat drive will reach its climax next Tuesday evening, when «ach person taking part in the cam- paign will spread a '-farewell thanks- giving feast for rats. \ The idea lack of having everyone expose the \bait on the same evening is that rats migrate about freely and much better control is obtained by simultaneous action. Since dumps serve as a breeding place for rats , the Farm Bureau is attempting to get town and village officials to use red squill baits in all public dumps. This anti-rat campaign is being conducted by the Farm Bu- reau at the request of Suffolk county farmers who report that previous campaigns have been effective in ridding their farms of rats , but that during the summer and fal l , their premises became reinfested with rats from dumps and other breeding p laces. Farmers replying to a quest- ionnaire sent out last fall indicate that rats destroy food and feed on tlie average Suffolk county farm , valued at $50 annually.
