Evans entitled “The New Church Organ.\ This was followed by a short one-act play entitled “How the Story Grew.” Members of the cast were selected from th Women's Society under the directorship of Mrs. Alfred Kiefer. The play dealt with small town* gossiping and showed how with each repetitiin, the story en-r larged. The cast gave a splend- id performance and the play was well. received, The follow- ing took part in the produc- tion: Mrs. -May. Kiefer. Mrs. Bonser, Mrs. Grogel, Mrs. De Nee, Mrs. Machkinder, Mrs. Trost, Mrs. Thornton, Mrs. Leyh. Following the play two more readings were given by Mrs. Henry Leyh sr., both be- ing well received. The stage remained empty for the space of a minute. Then there appeared a young man dressed in the role of a farmer and announced what appeared later to be the hit of the eve- ing; “The Ellicotville Stomp- (‘ri.\ From off stage chickens were to be heard cackling and cows mooing. The young man strode back across the stage in the direction of the barnyard- noise and brought on his group of you farm ‘rs dressed in t_vp'ea! rural costumes and carrying gazooks and a banjo. Their first tune was “Moun- tain Music.” This was so good they had to stop twice in the middle of it and start over. \-‘hen ihev sang an old favorite “l)'m(l1r‘_\~'-Doo\ This went off without any interruptions. V‘, arming up to theirfinal, they topped off with “Lil Liza Jane\ sung as only the Stompers could sing it. The applause was unusual, and having no encore prepared they repeated their rendition of “Mountain Music,” interrupted and started over twice as before. They left the stage with the applause of the entire audience. The Stampers are a group of young local people more or less interested in stage work. ~ :.:,jf u 5’ H! ‘E t ,\;:‘{0 RATES AS LOW AS DESIRED DAY AND NIGHT SERVICE CHARLES P.
