On Sun day, Oct. 18, residents and visitors alike will celebrate autumn on the Nautical Mile at the Family Fall Festival and Fire Expo. The festi val features a variety of activities for the young and the young-at heart. The festival is cosponsored by the Village of Freeport, the Free port Chamber of Commerce and the Fr'eeport Fire Department. “We are very ex- ------------ cited about this fes tival,” said Mayor Robert Kennedy. “It’s a great time of year; a great time to be outdoors and be on id m on the Nautical Mile.” In past years, the Fall Family Festival was held in the Freeport Recreation Center and included a costume parade for children and the Freeport Fire Department’s annual fire expo. “That was before Sandy,” Victoria Dinelli, direc tor of the Recreation Center, said. “This event is going to be bigger and better with many more activi ties.” A warm-up event opens the festivities on Saturday, Oct. 17.
