FHS turf field, lights debut Freeport High School hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 7 for its new synthetic turf field with field lighting, just minutes before the Red Devils football team took the field for their home opener against Plainview. The Freeport School District has successfully completed the installation of the new $1.9 million turf field, along with state-of-the-art field light- ing, at no additional cost to taxpayers. This project was funded as part of a voter-approved capital reserve fund project. The new athletic field complex will provide a consistent playing surface for the district's student-athletes in the years ahead, and will also serve as a source of pride for the community. \This is a very exciting evening for Freeport. This $1.9 million project was completed within the budget, on time and at no additional cost to taxpayers,\ stated Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham. \Thank you all for coming out tonight.\ Board of Education President Debra Mul6 added, \We are thrilled, excited and so proud of our community, children and everyone responsible for this won- derful project.
