The new collection fees for residen- tial curbside service are as follows: single family residence, $445; two- family residence, $865; three-family residence, Sl,285; four or more family residence, $1,705, plus $420 for each dwelling unit over four families. Mayor William F. Glacken said the new fees are based on the collection and disposal contract with the Town and Hempstead and \could go down in the future.\ Kenneth Bagatelle, president of the Northwest Civic Association, asked if Freeport could take over trash collec- tion to save money, but Mayor Glacken said that \would not be cost- effective.\ He said that equipment costs and personnel costs, including medical and retirement funding, would be cost pro- hibitive. The village stopped its trash collec- tion service in 1978. In a move that could get more coun- ty funds for Freeport, the board approved an Inter-Municipal Agreement with . Nassau County, retroactive to January I, 2005 through December 31, 2009, that would make the village eligible for certain grants through the county Legislature. Freeport has the benefit of having three country legislators who could provide general purpose grants. In other business, the board: • Awarded a $197,600 contract to Nicolino Construction Co. of Freeport for the annual catch basin and concrete road panel contract. • Awarded at $186,700 contract to Atlantic Well Inc. of Huntington Station for chemical treatment modi- fications at the northwest water plant site. The work will involve modifica- tion to existing pipes near the plant. • Awarded a $21,100 contract to Louis Barbato Landscaping Inc. of Holbrook, for the 2007 tree planting contract. • Approved an agreement with the county for the 32nd Program Year of the Community Development Block Grant Program for fiscal year 2006- 07. Trustees also set a public hearing for February 26 to amend the village building code to require window guards for town houses, co-ops, multi- faniily rental units and non-owner occupied units. The board passed a resolution appointing election inspectors and\ stat- ing polling places and hours for the March 20 village election. Trustees adjourned to executive ses- sion following action on the agenda. Next meeting will be February 5. \0 P era H 3? cr o o ^j H n> a. a> For All Reasons...
