oo u a. obituorios 00 LU Q < UJ _! LU X H \ -- Mabel L Schoen Mabel L. Schoen. 9K, of ihe Easion Nursing Center, formerly of Freeport, died Thursday. August 8 in the'Easion Nursing Center. Born June 20, I9()4 in Freeporl, she was a senior customer relations clerk for LILCO for 43 years, retiring in 1966. She is suvived by live nephews, Earnest, Stephen and Jolham Bortlik and Donald and Daniel Schoen. She was predeceased by her brothers Theodore and Daniel, and sister Ruth. Services were held at ihe Bartholomew Funeral Home in Bath. She was buried Monday in the Greenfield Cemetery in Hempslead. Norman R. Appleton Norman R. Appleton, 88, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Free-port, died August 10. Norman owned and operated Appleton's Hardware in Freeport for 30 years. He was a captain in the Army Air Corps, trained as a navigator and served in the Phillipines during World War II. Norman received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his Masters in Chemistry from Columbia University. He lived in Bra/.il for two years as a chemist before returning to New York to his lather's busi- ness. He loved fishing, poetry and his fain- Differ - a tribute I knew Andrea Miller through Hi- Hello Child Care and 1 was impressed with her dedication to (hat organization and to children. 1 would like to say something about this wonderful person that I had the privilege of knowing. With a warm hello and a how are you, A smile on her face, a comment or two. How could I have known what life had in store? That those short meetings would happen no more. But none thai knew her will even doubt Thai ihe glow of her life would ever go out. She shared with us all ihe love in her life A mother, a helper, a giver, a wife She strived to achieve and to help all others She gave of herself lo our sisters and brothers. We knew her in passing and we are glad for the meetings We will always remember her smile and her greeting She touched our spirit, out soul and our life She will slay in bur hearts .for the rest of our life.
