Joe Bloch, aaministratuc for the Meadowbrook Care Center, told The Leader that “this ly pe of behas lor is .-loi tolerated\ He explained that the MeaO- owbrook Care Center has a standard operating procedure to insure the safety of the residents. \If an alleged incident is observed by an employee, visitors or even anonoy- Dous telephone calls, we immediately make an incident report,* said Mr. Bloch. “The employee is suspended without pay and we then do an internal ifivestigatioD. At that point we go to the Office of New York State Health Facil ities Management. Patient Advocate Office and they come in and do a sur vey. They review charts, interview staff and if there is no crimiaxl intent then we come up with i decision if there w ill be a suspenskw or a fine Mr. Bloch explained to The Leader the difference between patient neglect and padem abuse. “For example, let us say that an aide leaves a patient on the commode unattended and the patient falls off and Is hurt - that would be neglect.
