GuIoUa recently announced that he has designated the Vilbgc of Freeport as the recipient of a S332.143 anti-drug pilot project state grant aimed at developing and coordinating all anti-drug activities in the Village, ' At a Mineola pixss conference. Mr. Guloua said, “The use and sale, of illegal drugs is one of the most serious issues confronting society. U threatens to erode the basic moral fiber of our society. Coordinated efforts by all segments of the community to fight the problem of drug abuse is the only : realistic way. to confront the issue and that is the basis o f the grant\ * 4 ' _____ He continued. The i7:mehiber body, is now also serving as the COMBAT Task Force with the directive of developing antklrug efforts in the law enforcement area to be funded by the ^ 3 2 , 1 4 3 grant of federal monies received from Nassau County. The Task Force includes Police Chief Joseph King and Assistant District Attotrtey Eugene Murtha a s well a s representatives of the religious, school and busictess communities.
