The Boys Track Team look three third place nnishes in three relays in the Nassau County Coaches Meet at - M itchell P a rk. Kevin C ruz. Peter Caggia, Tom Lesser and Otis McClendon ran the 4x800 in 9:04.55. Jamal Vailes, O. McClendon. Bryan Young and Bruce McClendon ran the sophorporc 4x400 in 4:16.91. Jerry Dmada. Erie Guberman, Keith Delaney and Brad Sudmann ran the medley in 3:49.23. In addition to a third in the medley, Canada pbced third in the 400 and fifth in the long jump. Freshman Guberman took a second place medal in the 400. The Girls Softball Team had two heartbreak losses this week. Carina Armario had a one hitter going into the . sixth inning in a disappointing 2-1 toss to Long Beach. Freeport lost its early lead in the VSC game and ended up losing 8-7.. ' Featured athletes The featured scholar/athletes this' week arc RAHSAAN GAMMON and OUZAMA NICHOLSON. Hoping to ■ enter Corhcll University as a pre-med major, Rahsaan Gammon has worked hard in her academic endeavors and has served FHS in many difterent ways. She has served as president of Operation Pride in 1989 and 1990, on the prom committee, as Vice president of the Class o f 1990, as a peer tutor, on the H u m ^ Relations Committee as a ’ . member of the Student Council and a member of the National Honor'Society. Rahsaan was a county level badminton player of. three years and has participated on the volleyball and spring track teams. She has also served as a manager for both the girls and boys basketball teams. Rahsaan was accepted to Boston U n iversity, University o f M iam i, Spellman, Virginia Polytcch. SUNY-, Slonybrook, Emory University, and American University but feels Cornell will best serve her academic nec(4 at this lime. / Ouzama Nicholson is bright and cncigclic. She is valedictorian of the senior class and has received many academic and extra curricular awards including membership in the National Honor Society, a regents scholarship.
