Cub Scout Pack 18 hqd a \*cry active and fulfilling year in 1989 and plans are well un(^cr w*ay for an ^ u a lly busy 1990. There arc many wonderful and ^ diversified activities offered to boys in \ cub’scouting. Pack )8 is a mulli-denominational . pack which is sponsored by Our Holy Redeemer Holy Name Society. - Scouting provides th e opportunity for the b o y s to participate in civic a c tivities and Community service, a s well as field ' trips a n d outdoor fun. ■ Every Memorial Day. Pack 18 is supplied with flags donated by the American Legion to be placed on the graves of our veterans at Greenfield CUB/DAD WES^ENO in Wading River'is a Pack 18 favorite. This coming February, our scouts w ill be visiting the South Shore Nursing Home in Freeport to bring Valentines and sing some songs for the residents..* Being a cub scout in Pack-18 also gives them the opportunity to go on pack field trips with their families. Some of the fun trips have included a Mets baseball gam e, a visit lb the . Cradle of Avbtion NJuscum at Mitchcl Field in Garden City* a trip to Theodore Roosevelt’s home at Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay, and a fun-filled day at. Dinosaurs Live at t o d s Point presen-e in Port Washington. Of course there ' w as our own. local attraction,' the Freeport Recreation Center, for an . afternoon of ice skating. Family events '.'Two of the favorite.family events are* the annual fam ily picnic held at -Waterfront Park m June and our Blue and Gold Dinner in February. More . than 200 Cub antT'Wffbclos Scouts and Tiger Cub Scouts members of their families attended this annual dinner *■ February 4. - The Pinewood Derliy was held at Giblyn School January 19 and a great lime was had by all. The winners were as follcrws: ' . W olves: F irst place. Christopher . Tom; second place, O iff Skudin; third •place. Michael Bruscino. Bears: First place, David Skolnick; second place. Overall pack champion was David Skolnick and most creative entry was * Cory Ncyland. Adult winners were: - Most creative, Tim Gony; fastest car. Diana Sidor. V ' , Various fundraising events arc also needed during the year to help support ■ the pack. We couldn’t function without . the support o f the community. Some of our major fundraisers have been the . candy sale, our car wash/bakc sale, the bike-a-thqn and bow l-a-ihon. The ■ scouts enjoy participating in them and . they are.usually quite successful. Our thanks to all of you for continuing to support Pack 18. . ' .
