Arrests For Prostitution K ........ . . . * . FREEPORT - Since the . beginning of this month, village police officers have arreted m^re than a half- dbaeh '■'women on the streets ' of Freeport on charges of soliciting for prostitution. On Friday, May 1, at 12:55 pm, in front of 66 North Main Street, . Freeport Police Officers James Gallo and George Dowdell .arrested' Melanie Dancy, 24, of 54 Hanson Place, Roosevelt. Gallo and Dowdell also arrested Ellen Brooks, 41,-- of 80 Washington Avenue, Freeport, on Saturday, May 2, at 6:40 pm, in front of 19 Freeport Plaza. Later Jhat evening. Of- ficera—SaiTr—Muniz and On Sunday evening. May 3, at 11:45 pm, at Church and Sunrise, Joann Bruce, 30, of 76 Harrison Av enue, was arrested, by Officers Gallo. Dowdell and Garrity also made an ar rest on May 7. At 10:45 pm, at North Main and West Milton Streets, they arrested Jayne Walker, 29, of 87 Lakewood Avenue, Roosevelt. On Wednesday, May 6, at 12:25 am, a t . Lillian Avenue and North Main Street, P. O. Arthur Zim mer and Tom Garrity ar rested a 31-year-old Roosevelt woman, Pamela Anderson, of 3 Oswald Place. Library Board to Meet Officers Walker and Muniz arrested Angela Williams, 30, of 130 Haverford . . Road, Hicksviller-on Thursday, Richard Walker arrested Helena Brun, 24, no known address, at the corner of Sunrise Highway and Church Street. The library is located on West Merrick Road, and South Ocean Avenue. FREEPORT - Two Vil lage police officers suf fered minor injuries ap prehending a man alleged to have burglarized a jewelry store on the Freeport Mall early Mon day morning. May 11. According to the police, headquarters received a telephone call at about 5 am from a resident, who lives near Lloyd Jewelers, reporting that someone had apparently broken into that store. P. O. Steven Yodice and Fidel' Balan responded to the call and allegedly ob served Naser Koci, 21, of 2503 East .19 . Street,' Brooklyn;'fIeeing from the scene. Following a foot pursuit,. . the officers caught Koci and appre hended him after a strug gle, during which Balan suffered contusions of the right wrist and Yodice a sprained left shoulder. Also arrested for the burglary vvas William Kelly, 86-84 20th Avenue, Brookyn. Kelly and Koci have been charged with' bur- , glary third degree. Olher Moll Burglaries Since the beginning of May, two other Mall retail stores have been burglar ized. _ . A display window at Edie’s Originals was bro ken Sunday evening. May 3, at 11 pm,' and items stolen from there. Sometime between 6 pm Tuesday, May 6 and 9:20 am the following morning, an undetermined number of sneakers was stolen from Dollar Shoe Outlet. Entry was made through a door unintentionally left unlocked .through the night. Pizzeria Robbed FREEPORT. - Police are investigating a robbery at Domino's Pizza, West Merrick Road, which re portedly occurred Wednesday night, April 29. According to the report, a man entered the pizzeria at about 11:15 pm and an nounced i robbery.. He threatened the use. of a handgun, but none' was shown. Given S50, the suspect then fled the scene. The subject is described as a male black, 25-30 years old, weighing 160 lbs. and wearing gray jeans, a blue 3/4 length coat and possibly armed.
