White has forwarded Freeport’s recommendattons to Colonel W.M. Smith Jr. of the New Volk ■ District of the U.S. Army Corps, of Engineers. The Corps had asked for comments, on its findings from an on-going study authorized by Congress. The Committee did not recommend the deep ening of Woodcleft Canal which is being considered by the Corps. In forwarding the recom. mendations to the Corps, the Mayor wrote that “as a boat owner for some 20 years and quite familiar with the problems in the Freeport area. Mrs. Guillont, a Freeport resident, is working at the Project part-time. Her duties include organizing parent groups, teen groups, tutoring and teen ac tivities. York State Parade, held this past Sunday. August 23. In the competition. Freeport's volunteers were judged along with over 100 other volunteer departments throughout New York State. The State's annual conven tion/parade and drill was held this year in the Albany New York suburb of Pine Grove. .
