ill iiiililiiii “In My Opinion*’ Dear Editor: The current school situation has found many parents caught in the middle of what can best be described as a mudslinging personality conflict. I, for one, will not choose sides because you’re both wrong. ^ It’s not a fight this community needs, for that kind of fight leaves no spoils for its victors: We know how this is affecting our pocketbooks and how it is affecting our educational system, but how is ita^ecting our diild> ren? Education is more than read> ing, poor because they get free what we can hardly afford ourselves. Let us now be charitable and count our blessing. But for the Grace of God it could be us. You have heard many times that Freeport needs more State aid for education. This is true, It would cut taxes for the property owner. To all politicians I say. if you really ca« about the diUd* ren of Freeport help influence ‘ these men you-support to.lntro- • duce legislation to help us oil stop worrying where we are per centage wise and be proud that . the Freeport educational system strives to help each'child r ^ c h ‘ his learning potential. There is (Cont. on Page 7) Dg, writing and arithmetic. It is also hones- f andi I haven’t seen too much of tya that lately. It should not be what this situation can do for-you; it’s what you can do to help the - situation.
