Mildred CanduHa, Jean Abbatte, EmiUenne Smitfi,, M Arriving in the Village when it was a hamlet, Barasch rented a West Merrick Road location to display his line of general, ladies and children’s apparel at the high price of $15 per month but soon moved to a Main Street location paying an additional $10 a month to his landlord, James Rajmor. bi 1906 he bought the property for $5,000 causing his fellow merchants to comment at tto temerity of such an investment in property, bid in this transaction, it might be said, Barasch open ly revealed his first personal show of feith in the future of Freeport. In 1913 Barasch was engaged in hanloerchief manufacture and erected a building on Olive Boulevard for this endeavor after importing machine^ from Switeerlai^. TTiis line was continued for some 10 years with many men and women of the Village employed in the plant or in thefr. own homes.
