Swoonoy holds monthly meet ings with community representa tives, at which specific noighbor- ^ hood problems are dlsciussed and Toferred to the proper village de partment or official for action. . _ Tn addition, the Freeport Hous ing Authority has recently applied —for federal funds for a rehabllita-, — tiondioiising program -whereby in- dividual houses, \sore spots’’ in the -neighborhood, wiil - be pur- chase,d and renovated or rebuilt. Fifty rehabilitated houses will be made available-to responsible per sons under the administration of the local Housing Authority. To combat over-occupancy, of homes .the villagc has.also.enacted more .stringent definitions of a \family unit\ in the. zoning and building codes. Higher penalties and stricter enforcement of anti- littering ordinances are also un derway.
