CANCER SOCIETY TO SPONSOR SMOKING WITHDRAWAL aiNIG ■ The American'‘iCancer Society, Naasaii Division la planning Smoking Withdrawal Clinics during April and May, which will em able cigarette smokers to break the habit it was announced by Dr. Peny Rr Mandel, Division Public Education Committee Chairman. The prograntLS which are modeled after successful experiences by the New York City Depart- meol of Healtli, will consist of formal lectures followed by a week of personal individual pre paration, during which the par- ,. ticipant develops strong motiva tion to .stop or reduce smoking. ■ The next phase will involve ' eliscussion groups of fifteen (15) led by two (2) volunteer ex- ■ smoker-s !us discussion leaders. The groups meet twice a week for four (,4) weeks, followed by one se.ssion per week for another six (6) weeks. Heather Strong Gordon Weds College Professor The marriage of Heather Strong Gordon to Donald Peter De Nevi was announced by the bride’s mother, Mrs. Dorothy G. Gordon of Freeport,-Mr, De Nevi is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aldo De. Nevi of Stockton, California. The marriage ceremony took place at North Brae Community Church in Berkeley, California, on December 30. The bride. wore a white lace gown with tulle veil and carried a bouguet of red roses with sprays of violets. Mr. Robert Gordon, brother of the bride, gave the bride away. After the wedding dinner in San Francisco, Mr, and Mrs. De Nevi left for Vancouver, B.C,,' Canada, where Mr, De Nevi has jieceptcd a po.sltion as Associate Profcissor at Simon Fraser Univer- •sit.v. ^ TAr; 1..JC -WfC* Profe.ssor Secondary. Education at San Francisco State College, Ho attended Delta Junior College and the University of Pacific where he received bis Master’s Degree and secondary teaching creden tials. He served a.s educational . consultant for Hunter's Point Community in Sari Francisco for the San-^ Francisco Redevelopment Agency. Mr, De Nevi is an author, a talented ar tist and an authority on and col lector of Eskirrio painting and sculpture of Hudson Bay. Mrs. De Nevi attended Penn State University and the TJniver-' the latter univ^sify in 1966 with a BA. in Anthropology, ^ e Is a member o f ‘Delta Gamma Wom en's Fraternity.
