Herbert Tenzer (D-5th District-N.Y.) revealed that the Corps of Engineers has develc^- l.ed a number of new plans for beach erosion control and hurri cane protection along the South Shore. The revised plans drop all proposed dredging of the South Shore wetlflnds which Rep. Ten zer has been fighting to. protect- through federal legislation. Under the Tenzer wetlands, bill, the Secretary of the Interior would .have the right to veto any Corps of Engineers projeeis the weitlands area. Action or wetlands preservation bill Is ex pected shortly by a House Mer chant Marine and Fisheries sub committee. Tenzer revealed that the Corps j of Engineers had scheduled scries of private meetings with local officials to diacuss a modi- I tied erosion control and hurri cane protection j>lan.
