Maynard Wettlaufer, former Director of Music of the Freeport schools, has been appointed Eastern Sales Representative for two national music magazines, The Instrumervlalisl and Clavier. He has also accepted an Associate Editorship of Musica which will entail writing, arranging and composing in this new medium. Dr. Wettlaufer, •‘Prof” as he was known la Fi-eeport, graduat ed fi'om the Williamsport Penna. -high school, received his Bache lor of Arts degree from ColgzUe University and Bachelor of Mu sic degree from Sheinvood Music School in Chicago. In 1950 the New' York College of Music awarded him a Doctorate in Music for dh>- ’tinguished professional services j and outstanding achievements in Music Education. ». Dv. Wettlaufer began his teach ing career in Harrisburg, lU,, thence to Williamsport, Pa., where he continued until he assumed his duties on the teaching staff of Freeport high school as Dii*ec- tor of Music from 1936*1994. Prof’s additional activities in-: eluded assistant camp director at the Ernest Williams Music Camp and the New York State Mmic Camp, Choir Director at the Freeport Baptist Church from 15t46-1950 and the Oceanside Lu- thewn Church from 1951*1956, Bandmaster at Adelphi College, Gardeai City, from 1954 t 1959 and instructor of music methods and matoj'ials. • He is a member of Mu Pi Delta, Kappa Phi Kappa, Lambda Chi Alpha.and on honorary member of Phi (Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
