Tho bay fishermen, are heading for the local' rowboats st^itions, and gas dock and bait station at tendants are being kept on their toes. Of course, the middle of the week rain quiets everything down a bit, but spring is really here. Freeport Bob Moore caught four stripers off Jones Beach Field No. 9 last week, but returned them because they are still too small, but it won't be long now. The Captain Jack boats and the Viking Fleet report good flounder fishing, improving daily. Al-Lind- rolh ha-s been doing fine-with‘cod, as ha.s the Jess-Lu in Shinngeock, but the Jess-Lu is returning to its •homo port in Freeport this week. Boat owners at the Hudson Yard arm are bringing in good flounder catches and fishing is getting a bigger play day by day.- The bay looked like the middle of August last Saturday with the tempera-1 tures in the high 80’.s. Fred Gcrhardt, long-time-resi dent of Freeport, avkl boatman and fisherman, proudly announced he’ll become a grandfather for the eighth ■time this summer.
