Is serving with Hellcoptei' Anti-submarine Squadron Three from the Naval Air Station, Norfolk, Va., which is currently deployed aboard the air craft carrier USS Intrepid. Members of the Squadron partici pated in the welcoming aboard ceremonies for Astronaut Lt. Cmdr. Malcolm' Scott Carpenter after his space flight in “Aurora 7\ on May 24. The squadron's commanding of ficer piloted the tiubp-powered helicopter which retrieved Astro naut Carpenter frqm the Atlantic and took him aboard the intrepid. Squadron members claim mem bership in the only Navy helicopter squadron to pick up an astronaut from the sea. in addition they possess a rescue sling with a sig nificant signature—^M.
