1962 rHURSDAY, MARCH 29, 1962 T H E LEADER , ... PAGE SEVEN roET'i C orner ^ J ' *■ > Atkinson School Freeport, New York March 22, 1962, Dear Sir: One of my sixth grade pupils wrote the enclosed poem in class. I thought It was good and decided to send it to you. My class and 1 hope that you consider it for publication In the Freeport Leader. Sincerely yours, Helen D. Bruett. (Ed. Note: You are so right and we are pleased to have the privilege). Wars The Revolution was a war, , As for England's rule we have no more, ' ■ To test the strength of colonies, \' Our men fought from land to seas, i,' We^'ijvon that war to prove one thing. ^ii^'^ ThSt we can rule without their king. We had a war between the states, To prove this to our colonial mates, Our nation will last forever more, With other nations will have no war. But If a war should have to be. W ell bfe ready with our artillery. In World War One we fought with Pi'ance, We had to use each available chance. We did not want to fight our foes, - But when we did our ammo rose, We went fight with our gun. This wai‘ loo we have won. Now World War Two we have fought. And other nations we have taught, We are strong and other nations know. We will fight against our foe. Why should we fight and be klUled down. And reduce our country to a war-torn town, Let os be cured from this thing called\ war. And let us have peace forever more. JOE CURCIO 336 Wallace Street Freeport, New York. I 1 Pvt. John J.
